WHOLESOME INGREDIENTS

Below is a list of our ingredients. We’re committed to keeping things simple and honest. While ingredient names may sound complex due to FDA labeling requirements, rest assured—we carefully select each one with your dog’s health in mind. Our recipes are made with clean, high-quality ingredients you can trust, without the confusion.

Chicken By-Product Meal

Chicken source protein, made up mostly of internal organs such as liver, digestive tract, and kidneys. The intestines are a good source of smooth muscle protein. This ingredient is very digestible and very low in ash.

Corn Protein Meal

The dried residue from corn after the removal of the large part of the starch, gluten and germ in the processes to manufacture corn syrup. It is an excellent low-ash protein source which is highly digestible.

Brown Rice

Whole grain brown rice ground to a powder to help provide a steady supply of energy throughout the day. Source of fiber, carbohydrates and vitamin B.

Barley

Whole grain. Has 50% more protein than rice. Slow burning carbohydrate source, helps control blood sugar levels.

Copper Free for my dog with liver damage

I purchased this dog food based on the recommendation of my vet because my dog has liver damage, so we are trying everything we can to help improve this situation. I mixed it half and half with my regular dog food and then transitioned over after a couple of weeks. Honestly, my dog is not a big fan of it, but he eats it because that’s his only choice for food. I think of it like a toddler, you make the food and expect your toddler to eat it, or he doesn’t eat at all, and he will learn to like the food. It’s what is best for my dog.

Hi Sophia, thank you for taking the time to share your experience with our Wholesome Farm Chicken Recipe. We're so glad your vet recommended our food to help support your dog's liver health - that means the world to us. We completely understand that some dogs need a little time to adjust to new foods, especially when it's for their health. You're doing such a great job putting your pup's wellbeing first, even when he's being picky! We hope this food continues to help support his liver health.

    Saving a lot of lives

My Boston terrier was diagnosed with MVD and copper storage disease at just over 2 years old. Initially I put her on this food on the recommendation of the internal medicine vet, but her copper levels despite chelation and this diet were still high on the second liver biopsy so we had to change her to LD food and her liver numbers normalized…. She is now almost 7 and doing well. The food was so tasty to my other dogs that I kept giving it. I loved the mission behind it. Now another Boston terrier who has been on it her whole life (under three) and is undergoing the same work up as her “sister” but if I hadn’t fed this food I bet she would be a whole lot worse. Copper studies are pending now and I will let voyager know what is discovered. She probably has MVD too. She doesn’t have a shunt. She is on LD food now too and her ALT went from 938 to normal in three weeks. Obviously an acute on chronic event of some kind. Her bile acids are quite abnormal. Still very happy to have given this food as a preventative all these years. ALL small breed dogs should be on copper limited foods. I just know it causes worsening of their already fragile livers. I lost another Boston to liver failure years ago… and it was likely related at least in part to primary or secondary copper storage issues. I will never feed regular food again. Only voyager or prescription diets. Thanks for making this food!

Only formula with good clean ingredients

This doesn’t have legumes or canola oil or any ingredients that cause digestive upset or gas. It has lowered my small dogs liver enzymes back to normal back from being almost 600! The only formula I would buy from them though.

3 Years Later...We love this dog food

We adopted our Sophie 3 years ago. She had been diagnosed with Copper Storage Disease and due to the damage it caused her liver she also had hepatitis. We knew when we adopted this sweet 9 year old lady that she would be on lifelong medications, vet visits, bloodwork, and a very strict diet. She HATED the diet (homemade pasta and rice dishes with chicken and vegetables and supplements). We couldn't get her to eat hardly any of it. So I went to the Google-cave and started to research and found this dog food company - founded by people that had lost their own beloved doggo to this terrible condition. I immediately ordered the food and as soon as we got it Sophie was in love at first bite! She was so happy to have kibble again! 3 years later with the help of this dog food she has a healthy weight, is feeling great, and her bloodwork has been consistent!! The vet said her liver levels will never be "normal" but that we are maintaining a level that she is happy with and that should give us many years with this sweet lady.

We have 3 doggos and they all eat Voyager. So grateful to have found this company!
